Home - Policies

Our policies explain to parents and others the way in which we do things. This is to make sure our Pre-school runs as safely and smoothly as possible. Policies are reviewed frequently by the management committee and then displayed on our notice board.

Safeguarding/Child Protection Policy

We value children’s right to be safe, play, learn and develop skills to give then the very best start in life. Everyone involved with the Glebe Pre-school is committed to this statement.

Equality and Diversity Policy

Our pre-school is committed to providing equality of opportunity and anti-discriminatory practice for all children and families. We recognise that society is rich and diverse and aim to teach children that we are all different in many ways and that different is not a bad thing.

Illness Exclusion Policy

This policy shows the Pre-school’s minimum time periods of exclusion for different illnesses which may affect your child. If your child does become ill and you are unsure whether to send them to pre-school that day, then please contact the staff and they will be able to advise you. Notification of all illnesses is required!

Complaints Policy and Procedure

Our pre school believes that children and parents are entitled to expect courtesy and prompt, careful attention to their needs and wishes. We welcome suggestions on how to improve our pre school and will give prompt and serious attention to any concerns about the running of the setting. We anticipate that most concerns will be resolved quickly by an informal approach to the appropriate member of staff. If this does not achieve the desired result, we have a set of procedures for dealing with concerns.

Inclusion Policy

We at the Glebe recognise that society is rich and diverse and our aim is to reflect this is in our practice. We teach children that ‘different’ is not a bad thing and that all people are special and should be treated with dignity and respect. Racist remarks and attitudes from either children or parents will be gently challenged. We welcome all people groups and encourage all children to learn and play together. We promote gender equality by challenging the idea for example that only boys can be train drivers etc.

Inclusion is not just about cultural differences but also incorporates developing an understanding about people who have varying abilities such as impaired sight and hearing, and incorporates developmental learning and stages of development. It is our aim to include all children from age 2 years to 5 years; however the nature of this setting means that nappy changing, with no specific changing area, is somewhat difficult. With this in mind, children are included, if not yet dry, by accepting them into the setting wearing pull ups, thus encouraging toileting and independence alongside other children.

SEND Policy

The Glebe Pre-school welcomes all children whatever their individual needs and, providing we believe those individual needs can be met, believes in providing an inclusive setting. With partnership of parents the Pre school will work alongside local Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) support services and has regard for the Department for Education (DFE) Special Educational Needs and disability Code of Practice(2015).
